Conclusion

In conclusion, my time in this class and my time abroad in Spain and other countries truly has opened up my mind. I feel entirely more culturally competent, and able to interact with people from other cultures entirely more effectively than before. Because of my time abroad this past Spring and because of the success of this class, I decided to apply for a job with FSU International Programs for the Spring 2013 semester. This month, I figured out that I was going to be returning to Spain, because I had been accepted into the position. I was thrilled to have the chance to go back and experience the Spanish culture all over again, not to mention meet new people from different countries again who will be studying with me at the study center in Valencia. I feel confident as ever with my knowledge and cultural communication skills that I have learned through this class, to forge even more lasting connections with those I meet. The first time I went abroad I feel as if I was slightly more shy and held back, plus had less confidence with communicating with different cultures. By the end of the semester I developed my own skills in communicating, and being in Culture and Identity has made me think even further about how to be respectful and observant about how other cultures think and behave. I will take all of the lessons in cultural education, business, politics, and in general socialization between youth, with me back over to Spain, so I can better understand all the people I meet. I find something completely wonderful about experiencing new cultures, I only hope that everyone in life is as lucky as I have been thus far. I have met some amazing people from different countries, who I never believed I would have the chance to know. Through my studies and experiences abroad, I feel able to connect with anyone I meet.
